Snow Plowing Deemed Successful

Yesterday, February 9th, the officers of the Sauganash Park Community Association agreed that snow plows should be called into Sauganash Park. We agreed that plowing should occur in the evening and that members should be notified via our emailing system as well as a post on Nextdoor Sauganash.

Two plows arrived shortly after they were called. We are using a new provider and were pleased with their availability and response time. We attempted to notify members that we were clearing the streets running east and west first. We sent a second notification when those streets were almost cleared and the plows were headed for streets running north / south.

We were pleased with the work of our new provider. Not only did they respond quickly, they worked quickly. They cleared the streets curb-to-curb where possible. Moving forward we are likely to continue to use this provider. We are also going to continue broadcasting these events using the channels that we exercised: Nextdoor Sauganash and our SPCA communications system. Thank you for your help and support. Renew or join online through PayPal. If you know of others in the neighborhood who would like to receive our notifications, including emails about plowing, anyone can sign up using the form in the sidebar of this website.

Thanks Again!
Your SPCA Communications Team

Thursday Night Snow Alert

Snow Alert ❄️❄️❄️
Good Evening Sauganash Park!

Our Snow plowing service is on standby over the next 48 hours. Please understand we are working with a new company, and appreciate your patience as they get to our streets. Once the call is made an email blast, fb , and next door post will alert neighbors to move their cars. Remember east/west streets have historically got done first followed by north/south. They will plow curb to curb so if your car is not moved it’s likely to get blocked. We will stay in constant contact so please check your email, and fb posts regularly. Stay safe and help your neighbor if needed! #snowmageddon2018 #sauganshpark

President Morrissey’s Response to the Shooting on Kedvale

This is a Chicago Police patch that is worn on the uniform.

Hello Sauganash Park,

We have had some scary news this past week with a home on Kedvale getting shot up. It’s been a hot discussion across the neighborhood and we empathize with your concerns. I personally have had several text threads going on the subject and live a block away.

It appears to be a targeted and isolated attack on an individual who resides at the address. The event being “isolated” does not make me feel any better, but it does mean we don’t have a turf war or a gang affiliation moving in the area.

We have been in touch with Commander Voulgaris and the Alderman’s office regarding the event. As we learn more or if there is an official statement, we will communicate it. The police are actively working this.

I also know the other concern is a new commander stepping in and having a less than ideal first impression at the community meeting this past week. It was a rough meeting to say the least and I don’t think they were anticipating the crowd. I have heard many complaints that I will pass along.

I can’t solve the crime, but what I can offer is OUR voice. The SPCA executive board will be meeting with the Commander for lunch shortly and we will express YOUR concerns candidly.

This is a scary event that happened in our backyard, but I am always amazed by the community banding together at times like these. This banding together gives me a pride of ownership and a firm belief that we will continue to be the best and one of the safest neighbors in the city.

We are here to help your voice be heard. Please email us at [email protected] with your concerns and we will relay the messages.
